Ladies and Gentlemen (and everyone else...) -- Start Your Engines!
This is the first-ever blog by yours truly, Jamie Jensen, longtime Luddite and author of Road Trip USA: Cross-Country Adventures on America's Two-Lane Highways. I have finished a new (4th and best-ever!) edition of my travel guidebook, and to help spread the word about it (and a lot of other related things) I am taking the plunge into cyberspace.
The website has tons of maps and travel info drawn from the book, so go check it out. It also has many additional features, including a "Road Trip" travel writing contest and my up-to-the-minute recommendations for where to drive each month
, so I hope you'll like it.
Actually, we've had an Internet presence since back in the dusty modem days of gopher and Mosaic, but now (after many years of focusing on fatherhood) I'm going to see what I can do with this newfangled web-world. Over time, I'll be adding news items, ideas, rants about high gas prices (!) and more, all having something to do with highways, byways, old roads, the New Deal, history, baseball, literature, music, milk shakes and much more.
Stay Tuned!
